Under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the “Human First: Health, Climate, Innovation” Forum was launched at Nile University. The event was organized in collaboration with Climatic Peace, IFMSA Egypt, and in partnership with UNFPA Egypt, and was coordinated by the Helwan Medical Students’ Association (HMSA-Helwan), the Modern University Medical Students’ Scientific Society (MTISSS-Modern), and EGYouth4Climate, with Nile University serving as the hosting partner.
The forum witnessed remarkable participation, bringing together more than 600 students from various Egyptian universities, alongside representatives from over 30 youth organizations, as well as officials from ministries, international organizations, experts, and specialists. Participants gathered to discuss key issues related to health, climate, and innovation, within a framework that places people at the center of priorities.
The opening session was attended by several distinguished guests, including Nanis El-Naqouri, Head of the Central Administration for Youth Empowerment; Mostafa Ezz El-Arab, Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports; Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Assistant to the Minister of Health and the official spokesperson of the ministry; Eng. Ahmed Saleh, Director of the Center of Excellence and Innovation at Nile University and President of the Forum; Dr. Ahmed Salem, Executive Director of Climatic Peace; and Souad El-Sayed, representative of UNFPA Egypt.
The first day of the forum featured a keynote session titled “The Future of Health in a Changing Planet”, as well as a session titled “From the Dean’s Desk,” which discussed the role of education and academic mentorship in preparing future youth leaders. The “Flash Talks” segment also attracted significant attention, delivering inspiring messages from young speakers.
In addition, five parallel workshops were conducted covering topics such as Disaster Medicine, Health Governance, Health and Climate, Digital Solutions for Reproductive Health, and Entrepreneurship. The forum also highlighted several youth-led initiatives under the theme “Youth Shaping the Future of Health.”
The forum aims to promote public health, address climate challenges, and empower innovation as a key driver of change, contributing to building a healthier and more sustainable future.
After 7 years from its foundation, HMSA-Helwan has officially obtained IFMSA-Egypt Full Membership
